Martin, Adkins, Thomas win weekly awards

Joey Martin (Maine) of the Rockville Express has been named the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League Co-Player of the Week for the week of July 13 to July 19. Martin posted three multi-hit games last week to go 9-for-17 overall with three doubles. His .529 batting average last week led the League. Martin's hits all came against the Silver Spring-Takoma T-Bolts and he had four against the T-Bolts on July 18. Martin drove in a run in each of those games against Silver Spring. He reached base in all four games he played and stole two bases in two attempts on the week.

Luke Adkins (Mississippi State) of the Bethesda Big Train has been named the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League Co-Player of the Week for the week of July 13 to July 19. Adkins hit safely in his final four games last week, going 10-for-16 in that stretch. He collected four hits and three RBI on a pair of triples against the Rockville Express on July 16, and followed them up with another triple in three hits against the Alexandria Aces the next night. Adkins drove in five runs over those two games. He collected two hits and scored a run against Alexandria on July 18 and finished the week with a walk and two runs scored overall.

Mike Thomas (Rider) of the Maryland Redbirds has been named the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 13 to July 19. Thomas shut out the Alexandria Aces as part of a doubleheader on July 19. He scattered four hits and did not walk a batter while striking out a season-high 10 en route to the 3-0 win. The win improved Thomas' record to 3-3 on the season.
