Maas and Florio, Long and Geiger share weekly awards

Herndon Braves outfielder Jeremy Maas (Pennsylvania/Alpharetta, Ga.) and Baltimore Redbirds outfielder Frank Florio (Tulane/Long Valley, N.J.) have been named the Co-Players of the Week in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League for the week of July 12 through July 18.
Maas hit safely in all six games for the week for the Braves, going 10-for-24 (.417) with two doubles and two home runs. He drove in six runs and scored five, walking once. Maas posted mult-hit games in three of the six he played in for the week. Against the Rockville Express on July 16, Maas collected three hits, including a two-run home run and an RBI-single.
Florio began the week with three consecutive multi-hit games, going 7-for-13 over that stretch with a pair of doubles. He continued to hit safely in each of his three remaining games for the week, adding a three-run home run against the T-Bolts on July 17 and three doubles in five at-bats in a doubleheader against the Express the next day. The outfielder finished the week with 11 hits in 22 at-bats over six games, with five total doubles, four RBI and four runs scored.

Silver Spring-Takoma T-Bolts starter Jason Long (Millersville/Rockhill Furnace, Pa.) and Youse’s Orioles starter Blake Geiger (Richmond/Baltimore, Md.) have been named the Co-Pitchers of the Week in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League for the week of July 12 through July 18.
Long had his best outing of the season against the Alexandria Aces on July 15, going seven shutout innings to get his second win of the season. Long scattered four hits and a walk while striking out a season-high seven batters. The lefty retired the final four batters he faced in the T-Bolts 1-0 win over the Aces.
Geiger struck out 14 batters in seven innings against the Aces on July 18, the most in one game by a Ripken League pitcher this season. Geiger allowed five hits, one of which was a solo home run. He walked two batters in the 4-1 victory, his second win in a row.
