Most Numerous Team: Ogden Raptors (3)

Of the five Ripken League alumni who finished the 2010 season in the Pioneer League, three of them played for the Ogden Raptors. Former Orioles Leon Landry (O's '08) and Chris Henderson (O's '07), who played on the Raptors with Steve Domecus (Express '07), feasted on Pioneer League pitching all season. Landry hit .349/.399/.510, while Henderson hit .341/.429/.438. Both earned Pioneer League Player of the Week honors on separate occasions in 2010. Landry was named the fourth best prospect in the Pioneer League by Baseball America.

Kyle Davis │ Delaware │ Youse's Orioles '07
Drafted: 2009 (Round 27, Overall Pick 823), Chicago White Sox
Current team: Great Falls Voyagers

Davis began the 2010 season with the Kannapolis Intimidators of the South Atlantic League but was reassigned to the Rookie-level Great Falls Voyagers after 18 games. There he hit .235/.348/.317 with 54 hits in 230 at-bats, including five doubles, four triples, and two home runs. Davis drove in 22 runs and scored 40. he walked 35 times to 69 strikeouts and stole six of nine bases. Impressively, Davis collected three of his four triples in one game, on September 4.

Davis began his professional career with the Bristol White Sox of the Appalachian League in 2009, where collected 52 hits in 223 at-bats over 60 games. Davis doubled six times and tripled once while driving in 14 runs and scoring 24. He was successful in all three of his stolen base attempts.



Steve Domecus │ Virginia Tech │ Rockville Express '07
Drafted: 2010 (Round 9, Overall Pick 292), Los Angeles Dodgers
Current team: Ogden Raptors

Domecus hit .252/.313/.435 for the Ogden Raptors in 34 games after being drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010. Domecus collected 33 hits, including eight doubles, two triples, and four home runs. He drove in 23 runs and scored 19. Domecus walked six times and struck out 19. He was successful on both of his two stolen base attempts.



Evan Frederickson │ San Francisco │ Bethesda Big Train '06-'07
Drafted: 2008 (Round 1-S, Overall Pick 35), Milwaukee Brewers
Current team: Helena Brewers

2010 was a step back for Frederickson, who struggled with his control (28 walks to 15 strikeouts) in 12 relief appearances for the Class-A Advanced Brevard County Manatees before being reassigned to the Rookie-level Helena Brewers of the Pioneer League. He found his footing for Helena, going 3-4, 5.30 in ten starts and four relief appearances. His walk-to-strikeout ratio improved to 48:56 in 52.2 innings, but he allowed just 38 hits and Pioneer League opponents hit a meager .204 off of him. All told, in 68 innings, Frederickson allowed just one home run and opponents hit a combined .237 off of him. He struck out 71 batters, but walked 76. If he can improve his command, he has the stuff as a lefty to rise rapidly.

Frederickson went 3-9, 5.27 with two saves in 29 games (16 starts) for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League in 2009. He struck out 93 batters in 97.1 innings, but walked 82. Frederickson allowed 67 runs on 99 hits.

The second highest-ever drafted Cal Ripken, Sr. League alumni, Frederickson made a brief stop with the Helena Brewers of the Rooke-Level Pioneer League in 2008 before earning a promotion to the West Virginia Power of the Class-A South Atlantic League. Frederickson made four starts and five relief appearances for the Power, going 0-1, 6.20 with 18 strikeouts in 26.1 innings. He held opponents to a .229 batting average on just 16 hits, but struggled with his command and walked 26. At Helena, Frederickson did not get a decision in three starts, but struck out 16 batters in 11.2 innings and allowed just five walks en route to a 3.09 ERA.



Chris Henderson │ George Mason │ Youse's Orioles '07
Drafted: 2009 (Round 21, Overall Pick 637), Los Angeles Dodgers
Current team: Ogden Raptors

In 2010, Henderson made vast strides for the Ogden Raptors of the Rookie-level Pioneer League. He hit .341/.429/.438 in 47 games with 60 hits, including 12 doubles, a triple, and a home run, and finished the season with four multi-hit games in his last eight. Henderson earned Player of the Week honors in the Pioneer League the week of August 16. He drove in 24 runs and scored 36. Henderson also showed tremendous plate discipline, walking 21 times to 22 strikeouts. He stole two bases in five attempts.

Henderson hit .255/.323/.345 for the Dodgers of the Arizona League in his first stint in the professional ranks in 2009. He collected 42 hits, including 11 doubles and two triples. Henderson drove in 18 runs and scored 18 of his own. He walked 16 times to 47 strikeouts.



Leon Landry │ Louisiana State │ Youse's Orioles '08
Drafted: 2010 (Round 3, Overall Pick 109), Los Angeles Dodgers
Current team: Ogden Raptors

The Pioneer League was no match for Leon Landry after he signed and reported to the Ogden Raptors after being selected by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2010 MLB Draft. Landry hit .349/.399/.510 in 57 games. He collected 87 hits, including 20 doubles, four triples, and four home runs. He drove in 38 runs and scored 46 on 20 walks. Landry struck out just 36 times and stole 13 bases in 22 attempts. He finished the season by hitting in eight of his final ten games. Landry was Player of the Week in the Pioneer League the week of July 19 and was named the fourth best prospect in the league by Baseball America.
