Ramirez, Cecil listed among Top 50 Draft Prospects
Baseball America releases its first Top 50 list for 2007 MLB Draft
Two Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League alumni have been included in Baseball America's first list of the top 50 prospects for the 2007 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft in June. Baseball America's John Manuel listed Neil Ramirez (Youse's Maryland Orioles '06/Kempsville HS) as the #22 prospect and Brett Cecil (Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts '05/Maryland) as the #28 prospect.
Ramirez appeared in four games for the Orioles in 2006, posting a 3.38 ERA and striking out nine batters in eight innings out of the bullpen. Baseball America rated Ramirez the CRSCBL's top professional prospect in 2006.
Cecil was an All-Ripken League pitcher for the Thunderbolts in 2005. Cecil won three games in seven starts and posted a 1.27 ERA for Silver Spring-Takoma. He had one shutout and three complete games and struck out a league-best 52 batters in 49.2 innings pitched. Baseball America rated Cecil the CRSCBL's top professional prospect in 2005.
