Kennedy (Express '06) listed among nation's top closers

Georgetown junior included on NCBWA's Stopper of the Year watch

Junior Daniel Kennedy (Georgetown/Rockville Express '06) has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association 2007 Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List. Kennedy has 7 saves to lead the Georgetown Hoyas this season. He has appeared in 17 games and pitched to a 2-4 record with a 2.57 ERA. Kennedy has struck out 17 batters in 21 innings pitched and has allowed just three walks.

In 2006, Kennedy tossed 18 innings for the Rockville Express in 14 appearances and led the team with four saves. He was second in the league in saves to the Orioles' Josh Squatrito (5). Kennedy allowed just one earned run (0.50 ERA) and struck out eleven to nine walks. His record was 1-0.

Freshman JD Melton (Navy), scheduled to pitch for the Express in 2007, is also listed on the Midseason Watch List. Melton has nine saves in 17 appearances for the Midshipmen.
