[Editor's note: Sean Lamont (Georgetown) played for both Youse's Orioles and the Herndon Braves in the Cal Ripken, Sr. League in 2008. Lamont hit four home runs and drove in 17 runs last summer.]

The Mets' much-anticipated billion-dollar ballpark made its debut in March without the home team.

More than 22,000 fans watched Georgetown knock off St. John's 6-4 at Citi Field, the finale of a three-game series between Big East rivals that served as a dry run before the Mets' exhibition opener against the Red Sox five days later. Hoyas sophomore third baseman Sean Lamont made history by smacking the first home run at Citi Field, a third-inning shot over the left-field fence.

''It was different compared to the other home runs I've hit,'' Lamont told The New York Daily News. ''Usually I'm excited, but the euphoria as I started rounding second base, I started laughing. It's a great feeling.''
