Cal Ripken League joins NACSB

January 27, 2010

DALLAS, Texas --- The Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League has joined the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball, becoming the Alliance’s eighth member league in time for the 2010 season.

The Cal Ripken League’s admission was unanimously approved by the Alliance’s seven other members at its annual meeting on January 7 as part of the American Baseball Coaches Association national conference in Dallas, Texas.

''We are thrilled to join the Alliance,'' said Ripken League Commissioner Robert Douglas. ''The Alliance’s representation of its members’ interests is first-rate, and we are proud to be listed among such prominent and respected summer collegiate baseball leagues.''

The other member leagues of the NACSB include the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, the Cape Cod Baseball League, the Florida Collegiate Summer League, the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, the New York Collegiate Baseball League, the Southern Collegiate Baseball League, and the Valley Baseball League.

''I know I speak for everyone in the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball in welcoming the Cal Ripken League to our Alliance,'' said NACSB Executive Director Jeff Carter. ''We are excited to have a group that represents one of the most trusted and admired names in baseball join our ranks. We look forward to our continued efforts together to help these young players meet and exceed their potential.''

The primary mission of the Alliance is to foster better communication and cooperation between member leagues and to promote and market member leagues on a national level. Founded in 1996, members of the NACSB share certain principles---the use of wooden bats, the adherence to NCAA baseball rules, and the mutual comity of individual player contracts within respective leagues.
