Belmont Abbey's Alex Udwari has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) Honorable Mention All-American team. The rising senior led the Crusaders in four offensive categories this year in addition to maintaining a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in the outfield.
The Silver Spring, MD native adds his All-American status to a growing list of post season awards, including First-Team All-CVAC, CVAC All-Tournament Team, 2006 ABCA/Rawlings All-South Atlantic Region Second-Team, and NCBWA All-South Atlantic Region First-Team.
Udwari led Belmont Abbey with a .391 batting average, 55 RBI, and 93 hits while placing second on the team in homeruns (9) and runs scored (50). In the CVAC Tournament, where the Crusaders run ended a game shy of the championship series, Udwari hit .529 with two doubles, two homers, four RBI and five runs scored.
