March 2, 2007
Mitch Harris (Youse's Maryland Orioles 2006) won back-to-back Pitcher of the Week Awards in the Patriot League to open up the 2007 campaign. In the first game of a doubleheader against Air Force on February 23, Harris threw 125 pitches and allowed just three hits and one run to earn his third victory in three starts. Before allowing the lone run in the fourth inning on Friday, Harris had gone 27 innings without allowing an earned run, and has allowed just one earned run or less in his last eight starts (including 2006). Harris also went 3-for-4 with a double at the plate in that game. In the night-cap, Harris hit a game-winning two-run home run. Harris has three home runs and twelve RBI through eleven games for Navy this season. On the mound he is 3-0 in three starts with a 0.48 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. He was named to the Collegiate Baseball Foundation's National Honor Roll for the week of February 27.
Ian Marshall (College Park Bombers 2005) earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Atlantic 10 Conference for the week of February 19-25. Marshall pitched seven shutout innings for the University of Richmond and struck out ten (a career high) to defeat the University of Delaware, 2-0, on February 24. He allowed just four hits and one walk to earn his first victory of the season. Marshall was also named to the Collegiate Baseball Foundation's Weekly National Honor Roll for his effort against Delaware.
Brian Dozier (Bethesda Big Train 2006) was named to the Collegiate Baseball Foundation's National Honor Roll for the week of February 20. Dozier reached base in eight of fifteen plate appearances (.533 on-base percentage) in leading the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles to a 3-0 start. He hit .500 and slugged at a .500 clip over that stretch.
