Youse's Maryland Orioles are the 2008 Cal Ripken, Sr. League Champions! Fresh off a record-setting 35-win regular season championship, Youse's Maryland Orioles cruised to 11-1 victory over the College Park Bombers to capture the 2008 Cal Ripken, Sr. League Championship Friday. Leon Landry's (LSU) two-RBI first-inning triple proved to be the difference maker, as the outfielder earned LCS Most Valuable Player honors. Max Russell (Florida Southern) allowed a run on four hits and three walks while striking out nine batters over eight innings to get the win for the Orioles. The Bombers fought hard in their fifth game of the LCS, but ran out of steam after scoring 52 runs in their previous four games. Marty Baird (Bowling Green) led the way for College Park with three hits.

Next up: The Orioles travel to Johnstown, Pennsylvania to defend their AAABA National Championship, August 11 - 16.
