The Rockville Express didn't wait long Wednesday night to shake off the upset at the hands of the #6 Maryland Redbirds earlier in the day. The Express scored multiple runs in the first, third, and fourth innings, and added another run in the fifth to sink the #4 Herndon Braves, 10-5, at Blair Stadium in Silver Spring.

In the bottom of the first inning, the first three batters reached base and scored for Rockville, setting a tone for the top half of the Express line-up that persisted throughout the game. Pete Fatse (Connecticut) walked to lead off the game, advanced to second on a single by Travis Babin (Sonoma State), and scored along with Babin on a two-RBI double by Steve Domecus (UC-Santa Barbara). Domecus advanced to third a couple batters later and scored on a wild pitch.

In the third, Eric Allen (Delaware State) walked with one out, and singles by Mike Zuanich (UC-Santa Barbara) and Beau Brooks (Troy) loaded the bases. After another out, Paul-Michael Klingsberg (Pepperdine) and Bart Pettus (Troy) drew back-to-back walks to give Rockville the 5-0 lead.

The next inning, Domecus, Allen, and Zuanich hit consecutive one-out singles, with both Domecus and Allen scoring on Zuanich's. After a Brooks walk, Klingsberg drove Zuanich and Brooks home with a double. A triple by Babin and a Domecus sacrifice-fly accounted for Rockville's tenth and final run.

The two through five hitters in the Rockville line-up finished with ten hits in 18 at-bats with five RBI and six runs scored between them.

The Braves got two runs in the top of the fourth when Jarrett Parker (Virginia) and Scott Woodward (Coastal Carolina) drew back-to-back walks and scored on back-to-back singles by Kyle Armeny (Penn) and Ryan Uphouse (George Mason). Parker added a two-RBI triple in the seventh, plating both Dan Palumbo (George Mason) and Josh Steinberg (George Mason), each of whom had singled to open up the inning. Parker then scored on an Armeny single to cut the Express lead in half, but it was too little too late for the Braves. Armeny finished with three hits for Herndon, and Parker, Uphouse, and Palumbo each finished with two.

Phil Urso (Claremont) started and picked up the win for Rockville, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks in six innings of work. Urso struck out six batters.
