Joshua Pearl, founder of Hickory Lane Capital Management, has been in the investment industry for more than two decades. Originally, he worked as a credit investment banker, and later switched to long/short equity investing. Today, he serves as chief investment officer at Hickory Lane Capital Management, a leading long/short equity asset manager. Before starting his own company, Josh Pearl was a long-term investor. His portfolio tended to be long and short. He was a top performer at Brahman Capital and helped build the first hedge fund firm in a pandemic year, when a Covid-19 virus shut down economies around the world. This experience, along with his research, has led to his success as a long-term, long-short equity investor.

Before founding his own firm, Joshua Pearl worked in investment banking. He spent nine years investing in stocks at Brahman Capital and building a hedge fund firm. His work has included a focus on equity investments and special situations. Before starting his own company, he was a Managing Director at a long/short equity asset manager called Hickory Lane Capital. Before joining Hickory Lane, he also worked as a Managing Director at UBS, where he structured high yield financings. He also did his graduate work at Moelis & Company and Deutsche Bank. After earning his bachelor’s degree, he worked as a banker at Moelis & Company. He studied at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
